Carthay Circle Restaurant

You may have noticed that I enjoy shooting in layers. I think my height gives me an advantage in that regard. I have no way of looking over things, so I’m constantly having to look through them. This has forced me to get creative with framing multiple elements in a single scene so they are not converging while at the same time being visually compelling (hopefully) or at least aesthetically appealing in some way. It doesn’t always work, but I like how it turned out in this scenario with the fountain in front of Carthay Circle Restaurant.

It was after we set up here so Matthew could get this cinemagraph of the Carthay Circle fountain that I noticed this perspective, so I went with it. Now if this technique would only work for another scenario like the fireworks. I have yet to find a good way of shooting through people. It’s pretty much a bust for me unless we’re either right in front or far enough back.
