This last Wednesday, Matthew and I went to Disneyland to visit some of my family, most of whom I haven’t seen in nearly 15 years. It was so nice to spend some time with them during the holidays at “The Happiest Place on Earth”.
After dinner in Downtown Disney, Matthew and I headed back to the park to take advantage of the rainy weather. We only had an hour and a half to take photos before the park closed, so we scurried about from place to place trying to get as much as possible. The angel standing above the entrance to the Court of Angels is something I’ve wanted to capture since the first year we started. The timing or conditions never seemed right and I wasn’t able to capture what I saw in my head. With that in mind, I knew I wanted try again. I knew I couldn’t go wrong shooting New Orleans Square in the rain so I’d walk away with something, if not what I intended.
When we came to this spot, it was perfect. The area was clear and most everyone had made their way to Main Street. I was able to take my time and enjoy the quiet sound of rain drops trickling through the wrought iron balcony as my camera fired off a round of shots. I relish these moments. With the park getting busier and busier (even on rainy days) we’re usually rushing around trying to find an area clear enough to shoot and don’t have a moment to stay and take in our surroundings. So this was the highlight of my evening for sure. I hope to be able to find more moments like this this season.
