In honor of Presidents’ Day, I thought I’d share a great moment with Mr. Lincoln. Did you know that he signed legislation setting aside a valley and a grove of trees for the state of California?
It was the Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove. The requirement for setting them aside was that they be preserved for public use and recreation. This would help pave the way for our national parks.
