We did it once before and said never again but they were empty words. When we heard everything that Disneyland was planning to kick off their big 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration, we got a little excited. Okay, maybe more than a little.

In some ways it’s crazy to think that we’ve been at this for that long, but when I look back at all the pictures we’ve taken, the experiences, the people we’ve met, the hours and money invested, it feels like forever. It’s kind of like being married in a way. It’s hard to remember a time before this. A time before we were taking pictures at Disneyland and sharing them on the internet.
CONTINUE READINGOswald the Lucky Rabbit made his meet and greet debut at Disney California Adventure on Sunday. I wish I could say that I’d planned it that way because I’m just that good but the timing was really a happy accident. We were there primarily to celebrate my dad’s birthday. My dad is a big kid at heart who happens to be a huge Oswald fan, so he was thrilled to see his favorite lucky rabbit. When he’s excited about something, he’s got the kind of joy that glows. I love that about him.
CONTINUE READINGThe view of Carthay Circle Restaurant from Hollywood Land is unexpected and unique. The way the tower lines up and peeks over the balcony is seamless. The tiled walkway glistens from the delicate glow of the light fixtures hanging above. The reddish hue almost seems to convey a red carpet premiere as it guides you to the entrance. I frequently find myself pausing here to take in the rich and often peaceful atmosphere. It’s no surprise that Buena Vista Street continues to maintain its charm.
CONTINUE READINGIn the midst of a cold and wet Winter night, Buena Vista Street manages to impart a glistening warmth through its charming atmosphere and swinging music. While I know that BVS isn’t limited to one decade in particular, I have often imagined what it would be like to live in the roaring 20s, much like Owen Wilson’s character in the movie, Midnight in Paris. Like him (and the moral the movie suggests), I’m certain that I heartily romanticize the notion. That’s part of the reason I enjoy Disney parks and, in this case, Buena Vista Street so much. They don’t correct my nostalgia. They let me immerse myself in an idealistic impressionism and walk the street proudly adorning rose colored lenses. The Christmas season makes it all the sweeter with its emphasis on merriment, peace and goodwill toward men. What can I say? I’m a sucker for fluff.
The Christmas tree on Buena Vista Street has such a cool retro feel to it. Although it’s quite rich and vibrant in person, when I sat down to work on this photo, it seemed to take me another direction that had me thinking of vintage photos from the 1950s.
