Christmas in New Orleans

I think part of what makes New Orleans Square so different than other areas of Disneyland at Christmas is its rich, jewel tone color scheme. I love the way those colors dance across everything in their reach, especially the ground. The night it rained while we were there, it seemed a no brainer to get a shot of the wet pavement glistening from jewel tone Christmas lights aglow. Every time I look at this picture I hear Louis Armstrong singing “It’s Christmas time in New Orleans”. Between Louis and Disneyland, I can’t help but succumb to the joy they both give with a smile. Now all I need is a good ol’ creole beat.

Home for Christmas

I’m not sure how to explain why I titled this picture “Home for Christmas” other than it’s how it makes me feel, and overwhelmingly so. There’s just something about this perspective of Walt & Mickey looking down Main Street towards the Christmas tree that makes me feel in my heart, at home. I know it must sound corny but I’m okay with that. I hope at least that it helps, if you find yourself missing Disneyland this Holiday season.

The Five & Ten, Glistening Again

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Perhaps it has for some time now, but that is the song that sprung into my head whilst at Disneyland the other evening. Certainly everywhere you go in the park is looking like Christmas, even Toontown, in it’s animated style. So here’s to five and tens glistening again, and to making bells ring with carols that we sing within our hearts.

It’s hard to believe it’s almost Christmas. Whether you’re counting down to Christmas with Haunted Mansion Holiday, getting to the park early for a handmade candy cane, or getting snowed on during a stroll down Main Street, if you can make it to Disneyland during the holidays, it sure makes the season more merry and bright.

Gateway to Christmas Magic

I love that Disneyland gives you a glimpse of their magic before you even walk through the gates. Main Street Station stands in its grandeur above the turnstyles. Mickey smiles at you in a beautiful floral display. It really builds on the excitement and the anticipation of a day to make memories with the ones you love. This is especially true during the Christmas season with holiday ornamentation adorning the entrance. Standing here I watched as families made their way into Disneyland under snow topped turnstyles, stopping for a picture in front of Mickey and the station before pressing on to Main Street. It was a wonderful way to spend some time at the park.

Main Street Gifts 101

Do you ever have those times where you think of yourself as being rather clever? This was one of those times for me. We were at Disneyland a week before their official start of the Holiday Season. Main Street was roped off for the filming of the parade for the Disney Parks Christmas Special. We found ourselves stopped here for a time, across from the entrance to the Disneyland Emporium. Naturally, we were all looking around, taking in the new decor. I looked up across Main Street and saw “Gifts 101” illuminating the garland and ornaments nearby. I took a few pictures, gave myself a metaphorical pat on the back, and proceeded to strut down the sidewalk with the rest of the gang, shortly thereafter being smacked in the head by a light up Mickey balloon.
