Much to my surprise, I discovered the word “boo” as I was adjusting my angle for a picture of the Mickey pumpkin. It was the last scare on Main Street while closing down Disneyland one night. With my love for all things cheese—perhaps the mouse has rubbed off on me—I couldn’t resist taking a picture to share here in hopes of giving someone a chuckle or two.

I think the thing that most excites me about Ghost Galaxy is the simplicity of using an existing platform to tell a new story, even briefly. It may not seem as successful a transformation when comparing it to Haunted Mansion Holiday but that misconception only persists if you insist on comparing apples to oranges. Space Mountain doesn’t deliver the same depth of story that the Haunted Mansion does to begin with. The fact that Imagineers were able to cook up what they did with a minimalist pantry only encourages me for how they will continue to adapt and improve seasonal experiences over time.

Harvest time at Big Thunder Ranch presents a great opportunity to enjoy vintage Halloween decor and ephemera. It amazes me how things change stylistically over time. The variance from 60 years ago to today is really just the tip of the iceberg for the boundlessness of creativity. I wonder how today’s designs will stack up in 50 or 60 years from now.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit made his meet and greet debut at Disney California Adventure on Sunday. I wish I could say that I’d planned it that way because I’m just that good but the timing was really a happy accident. We were there primarily to celebrate my dad’s birthday. My dad is a big kid at heart who happens to be a huge Oswald fan, so he was thrilled to see his favorite lucky rabbit. When he’s excited about something, he’s got the kind of joy that glows. I love that about him.
