Picture, if you will, a hotel lobby. A hotel which, in fact, once reigned as the star of Hollywood. In the lobby is an elevator with a sign which reads, “Out of Service”, and those days of stardom have long since faded. The hour is late. The only choice now is a service elevator, the entrance to which is located in the boiler room. But these passengers aren’t headed to the upper floors. They’re en route to… The Twilight Zone. (Of course, this is only properly read with your very best Rod Serling voice.)
Garden View at The Hollywood Tower Hotel
I’m ashamed to say that I don’t spend anywhere near enough time in a Bug’s Land. Not only are there some great attractions, but the colors, textures and especially the bug’s eye view make this land special and unique. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that it is widely under appreciated. I guess it’s tough to be a Bug’s Land… I recently learned that a Bug’s Land is actually intended to be the lawn of The Hollywood Tower Hotel. That’s an amazing detail, right? It completely altered my perspective with a renewed sense of wonder and having that understanding led to what you see in the picture below. I hope you enjoy!
The Vintage Hollywood Tower Hotel
It seems like forever since we’ve been to the Hollywood Tower Hotel. I shouldn’t complain though, because it’s my fault. I chicken out on the crew for this one. I love roller coasters of all shapes and size, but when it comes to dropping straight down, my stomach is not a fan. Couple that with the fact that this ride is themed so well for the creepy factor and you’ll find me suggesting other activities. I have ridden it several times and had fun, so don’t be too mislead. And I love taking pictures of it. I just need proper motivation and encouragement. Art deco anything is something you will find me staring at and drooling over for hours. That’s partly why I decided to take this one the vintage sepia/black & white direction. It felt right for the Art Deco era and I really wanted this to be reminiscent of a vintage postcard.
You’ve Entered… The Twilight Zone
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror dominates the skyline of the Disneyland Resort. Night or day it coerces attention, but night is when it really shines. With its black light glow and flickering Hollywood Tower Hotel sign, it conspicuously forebodes a disquieting fifth dimension experience. The evening I took this picture, ghostly clouds gathered in the subsequent sky. It was perfect. This is one of the many pictures I took. I invite you, if you dare, to step aboard.
