Headed for Splash Mountain
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t ride Splash Mountain nearly enough. I could blame it on the camera equipment—and that would be mostly true—but really it comes down to the fact that I enjoy simply being at Disneyland enough that riding anything is supplemental. Most of my time is spent observing my surroundings and how people interact with them.

Big Thunder Morning Ride
A Big Thunder morning ride isn’t for everyone but, for some, it’s the perfect start to a day. The same could be said for a 24 hour Disney event. With the recent announcement of another party to kick off the 60th anniversary of Disneyland over Memorial Day weekend, I decided to revisit my collection of shots from 2012’s One More Disney Day. This was from the first morning when everything was fresh and palpable energy filled the park. It was a completely different story 24 hours later. Michaela and I haven’t attended the subsequent parties but it feels like time to give it a try again.

When Mary Poppins Drops In
If the weathervanes around Disneyland have taught me anything, it’s that I’m most likely to notice small details when I’m putting forth the least effort to look for them. In this particular case, I was sitting at the end of Main Street, mostly people watching. The sunset was filling the sky with brilliant color and I just happened to glance up and see the silhouette of Mary Poppins above the Jolly Holiday Bakery.
